Verbs.
Verbs are the "ACTIONS" in a sentence.
Verbs tell you what is happening.
The "plain vanilla" form is called the "infinitive."

As you can see, each picture can represent any number of actions. It is up to YOU, the speaker, HOW you want to define any given event.
By the same token, when you're learning vocabulary: try to mix all the meanings into a bucket, and picture the resulting "definition."

About Verbs:
Notice how the actions themselves can represent a "subject" in a sentence.
Banging the wall is stupid. *To bang the wall is stupid.
Walking is exercise. *To walk is exercise.
Playing instruments can be fun. *To play instruments can be fun.
*Yeah, yeah: Nobody talks like this except for Germans!! Instead:
** It is stupid to bang the wall.
** It's exercise to walk.
** It can be fun to play instruments.
** What's "it?" ** Why do we need "it?" Go back to study GENDER.
