Twenties |
A
major problem here for most English speakers
is that they have a tendency to want to pronounce
these numbers with the i preceding
the e. |
NO!
Don't say "bien" - this means "fine, well,
good," etc. |
If
you want an English word to compare it to,
think of that little stringy system that your
blood flows through - VEINs. |
Or
think of how you feel what somebody says "You
look great!" - VAIN ... |
That's
real close to how you pronounce the beginning
syllable of this set of numbers. |
But
again, make sure that your V is not
a V, but between a V and a B. |
That
means your teeth don't bite down or even
touch on your lower lip. |
Listen
to the numbers repeatedly, and say them in
front of a mirror, and if you see your teeth
on your lower lip - IT'S WRONG! |
Note
that this is the only set of numbers that
ends with-te. |
All
further -ties (thirties, forties, fifties,
etc.) end with "-ta." |
|
Two
different spellings are given. |
The
optional spellings require an accent in
some forms. |
Learn
the ones that are easiest for you. |

Homework: Go out and count as many things as you can up to 19. Or go on further and learn some more numbers. But force yourself to really get the numbers down, because you WILL use them !!!
