Picture
yourself as a member of a very large German
family, with lots of each one of the following
relatives.
PERPLEXED?
Just
don't win the lottery! Even the imaginary
ones will crawl out of the woodwork!
GENDER
AWARENESS
Note
that masculine nouns are presented with "der"
- indicating that it is a masculine noun. You need to
remember this!
Feminine nouns are presented with "die"
- to indicate that they are feminine. This is something
that you will have to deal with constantly in your language
development.
Use this chart initially
to just get used to how the words look and sound. Notice
some of the "spelling
rules in action!" You should only try to learn
a few of these at a time, and get used to using the words
in sentences and ideas. After you have started developing
sentences, then you'll need to modify the case for each
noun. You'll learn what that means, ... in time!
