OBJECTIVE:
Learn something new.
TASK:
Concentrate as hard as you can on the words on this page.
PERPLEXED?
Maybe you need new glasses, like me.
Lección Siete
¡Bienvenidos!
That says: "Welcome!"
But it says it in the "masculine-plural" form.
That's what you use when you don't know if the crowd you have is strictly masculine, strictly feminine, or a mixture of both.
Don't let your mind wander!

Some New Information ...

¡Bienvenidos!

Geez!
I was just trying to give a different greeting ...
So, okay ...

Hoy.
That says: "Today."
¿Qué hay de nuevo?
You didn't forget that already, did you?
¿Qué hay de nuevo hoy?

Hay ...
... that's: "there is" or "there are" ...
No hay.
... that's: "There isn't any." or "There are none."
Hay que ...
... that's: "One must ..."
or "Ya gotta ..."
or "There's somewhat of an urgency to accomplish the following task: ..."

Hoy hay que ...
... that's: "Today we're really going to have to ..."

... that's: "to learn"
Hoy hay que aprender ...
algo.
... that's: "something"

Hoy hay que aprender algo.

Starting Points in Language Study:

Seriously work at remembering the pronunciation of the consonants and vowels! Like remembering that the "H" is always silent - never has a sound! And remembering that the "B" and the "V" pretty much sound exactly alike. And all the others that you found on the Pronunciation Pages.

Notice that an exclamation in Spanish starts off with an upside-down exclamation mark: ¡. This lets you know right off the bat that the enclosed verbage is to be emphasized. You don't have to wait until the end to realize that what you're reading is an exclamation.

Oh, ... and it ends with a regular exclamation point ... !!!

Ok.
You did it !!!
You learned something ...
