The Days of the Week ...

¡¡¡ Húi !!!
El día trece ...
Trece es el número de la mala suerte ...
la suerte
"Buena suerte" is "Good luck."
"Mala suerte" is "Bad Luck."

Yesterday you learned the days of the week ... didn't you?
Let's go through them again right now:

Notice that the days of the week are NOT capitalized.
In English, when we say the day of the week, we often add "on" - although it doesn't have to be there.
The following sentence can be finished in two ways in English:
We're gonna go out and work in your yard for you
... on Monday.   ... Monday.
... on Tuesday.
or
... Tuesday.
... on Wednesday.   ... Wednesday.
In Spanish, when you're talking about something happening on a certain day of the week, you leave on the "el."
Whenever you state on what days of the week you're doing something
on a certain day of the week:   every certain day of the week:

on Monday (el lunes) every Monday (los lunes)
on Tuesday (el martes) every Tuesday (los martes)
on Saturday (el sábado) every Saturday (los sábados)

There isn't a word for "on" in this instance, ... so don't try to put one there.
Go through the days of the week over & over again, calling to mind that in just saying the names (el lunes, el martes, etc.) you're also implying "on" that day of the week.
Also practice them in their plural forms respectively and think about how you're saying every Monday, every Tuesday, etc.

Hoy no es el lunes.
Hoy no es el martes.
Hoy no es el viernes.
Hoy es el jueves, el 11 de abril.

ayer
Hoy
mañana
yesterday
today
tomorrow

Starting Points in Language Study:

Did you happen to pick up on what a diphthong is in your pronunciation studies?

When you have 2 vowels together, they CAN form a diphthong. Spanish has 2 weak vowels: I and U. When either of these vowels is combined with another vowel, they lose ground to the other vowel - whether it comes first or second.

The other vowels: A, E, and O are strong vowels. They carry more weight (in pronunciation) than the weak vowels.

What do you remember about accents?

¡Hasta mañana!
