Lección:
The past participle of a verb is the -ed form, or the did form, in English.
to walk -> walked
to close -> closed
to open -> opened

This verb form can be used as an adjective
a walked dog
the closed door
opened shutters
In these cases, the verb form functions as an adjective, describing what took place beforehand.

You can also use this form in English with the verb "to have" in order to form the progressive tenses.
someone has walked
someone had closed
someone has opened
In each case, there is a different form of "to have." That means, you use a conjugated form of TO HAVE to make the perfect tenses. The participle form of the verb changes only in its use as an adjective - in accordance to what it's modifying.

*To form the past participle of verbs in Spanish:
DROP
ADD
AR
ADO
ERIR
IDO
abandonar -> abandonado
absorber -> absorbido
aburrir -> aburrido
* There are exceptions to this formation.

These listings provide verb infinitives, coded by colored balls. Click on the colored ball to hear the infinitive. Also indicated are stem-changes, irregular YO form endings, subjunctive stems, and preterite irregularities. These key bits of information should be sufficient for any intermediate learner to successfully conjugate any given tense for a given verb. See what you can do!
